Almost two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, you or someone you know has probably been affected by the virus.

The federal government now has a program that can assist families dealing with the loss of a loved one and the weight of funeral expenses.

The program could cover costs of funeral expenses, especially families that have lost multiple people in a short time period.

FEMA discloses that they have reimbursed almost 230,000 people to around $1.5 billion for funerals of their family members as of Dec. 6.

The death toll for COVID-19 is over 800,000, so that means that almost 580,000 could apply for funding, but hasn’t.
