FULTON COUNTY, AR (ECNN) – The Arkansas State Police report the arrest of a man on drug charges.

According to court documents filed on Wednesday, Arkansas State Trooper Jason Long conducted a traffic stop on Tuesday on a vehicle being operated by 39-year-old Matthew Novy near the Glencoe area.

Prior to making the traffic stop, Trooper Long observed the vehicle traveling on the highway’s shoulder in an erratic manner.

Trooper Long approached Novy’s vehicle and immediately detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from inside the car.

Trooper Long also observed a small quantity of marijuana lying on Novy’s lap.

He then ordered the suspect to step out of the vehicle.

While outside the vehicle, Novy was advised that he was being detained and a search would be conducted on the interior of the car.

Topper Long discovered one glass jar containing a quantity of suspected marijuana, one plastic baggie containing a crystalline substance, and one marijuana cigarette.

Novy was then placed under arrest, and at a later date, DTF Agent Johnny Byler field-tested the crystalline substance, which produced a positive result for methamphetamine. The substance weighed less than two grams.

Novy is charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, meth-cocaine.

His bond was set a $5,000.
