MELBOURNE, AR (ECNN) – The Understanding and Preventing Substance and Opioid Abuse in Rurality Project (UPSOAR) is offering substance and opioid abuse training at no cost at Ozarka College. The purpose of UPSOAR is to generate awareness and provide practical skills to residents in our region to address the opioid epidemic sweeping our nation.
UPSOAR offers trainings that can be held virtually or in-person, depending on your preference. This 60-minute presentation provides knowledge about substance abuse and addiction including statistics and a Narcan demonstration. The risk-free simulation training helps participants identify signs of an overdose and how to respond.
If you would like to schedule a meeting or presentation, please contact Melissa Gallagher, UPSOAR Coordinator, at 870.368.2332 or melissa.gallagher@ozarka.edu
