It’s been a long day for area firefighters who worked a three-building blaze at the West Plains square.
Crews from West Plains, Willow Springs, Houston, Howell-Rural, Thayer, and many other departments responded to the report of heavy smoke on the square.
Officials on the scene believe the fire started around 3:00 Thursday morning.
According to West Plains Public Relations Coordinator Cody Sanders, the fire was extinguished by 7 am, but cleanup is expected to last most of the day.
From a street view, it appears Powell-Crews Title & Escrow is where a large portion of the damage is.
City of West Plains Officials still asks citizens to stay away from the area while crews attempt to clean up the site.
Fire investigators are on scene, but an official cause has not been released.
This is a developing story, stay with ECNN for more information.
