
We told you on Wednesday about Senator Eric Burlison’s bill that would remove the requirement for someone to prove they used physical or deadly force in self-defense. Instead, it would move the burden onto the prosecutor to prove the defendant’s actions were not in self-defense. Until then, the defendant cannot be arrested or detained. Among the three who favored the bill was Senatorial Candidate Mark McCloskey.
Over a dozen people, including law enforcement associations, religious leaders, and a family who recently lost a loved one to gun violence, spoke against the bill.
