The West Plains Police Department has entered an emergency status due to weather.
This affects accidents that do not require a tow truck and have no injuries.
Police will still respond to accidents, but this allows drivers to exchange information and move vehicles out of the roadway to help prevent other crashes.
If you are in a crash and neither vehicle needs a tow truck, and none of the parties involved have any injuries, you can move the vehicles out of the roadway, call the Police Department, and exchange information.
The police department asks the public to say home while the Missouri Department of Transportation is still handling roads.
