According to court documents filed on Wednesday, on Feb. 22, 20-year-old Clayton Smyser contacted the Izard County Sheriff’s Office about an alleged stolen vehicle.
Deputy J Barnes met with Smyser at his residence located in Pineville, and Smyser stated that his black 2015 Ford F-350, valued at approximately $25,000, had been stolen from his residence sometime from 6 pm on Feb. 21 to 9:30 am on Feb. 22.
Smyser completed a signed written statement regarding the theft of his truck.

After entering the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center as stolen, it was discovered that the vehicle had fled from Arkansas State Police Trooper Jason Hooks in Fulton County on the evening of Feb. 21.
The pursuit ended when the vehicle driven by Smyser lost control and wrecked, at which time Smyser fled on foot into a wooded area and was not taken into custody.
