
The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a man on battery charges.
Arrest records filed on Wednesday say on Jan. 18, Deputy Marc Boyd responded to a disturbance call in Smithville, AR.
A woman and her son went outside to find 63-year-old Olen Broyles yelling outside.
Broyles was yelling at the victim over a mailbox.
Broyles came at the victim with a board and slammed it on the ground near her shattering it.
The son stepped in front of his mother to protect her, and Broyles took a battery-powered drill and stuck it in the face of the son.
He had a cut on the bridge of his nose and was bleeding.
EMS was called to the scene to treat the male victim for his injuries and was not transported to a medical facility.
Broyles is charged with felony second-degree battery.
He was released on his own recognizance.
