Sharp County authorities arrest man on drug charges after chase

The Sharp County Sheriff’s office reports the arrest of a man on drug charges. 

According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, on Monday, an Izard County Deputy attempted to stop an orange Mitsubishi on Highway 56 near the Sharp and Izard County line. 

The vehicle fled from the officer and was eventually stopped in Sharp County. 

Officers from the Izard and Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the 16th Judicial Drug Task Force, stopped the vehicle and attempted to arrest the driver, who initially resisted but was placed into custody. 

Officers located approximately 6 ounces of methamphetamine, $5,595 in US currency, several unidentified pills, and various items of drug paraphernalia. 

The driver was later identified as 38-year-old Aaron Slayton of Hardy, AR. 

He was arrested on charges for possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, possession of oxycodone with the intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, destruction of evidence, and fleeing. 

More charges are expected on Slayton in the coming days out of Izard County.
