ELECTION DAY: What to expect on the ballot in Southern Missouri

Starting in Oregon County:

  • Voters in the county will elect a new member for the Oregon County Ambulance District 5 for a three-year term. Tom Smith will run with no opposers.

    A position for the Oregon County Ambulance District 2, no one has filed for the position, but the write-in option remains.
  • Voters in the Oregon-Howell R-III School District will vote for two new board members for a three-year term. The race is between David Brown, Jennifer Johnson, and Dale Hunsperger. 

 

  • For residents in the City of Koshkonong, voters will decide on two positions.

    Mark Sanders and Marcus Martin will compete for a two-year mayoral position. For Alderman, Jennifer Johnson will oppose Hope Reed. 

 

  • In the City of Thayer, voters will make the decision for a new board member for the Thayer Special Road District for a three-year term. None have filed for that position, but the write-in option remains.

    For a two-year term in Alderman I, incumbent Micahel King will oppose Angela Toomey, Mark Bryant, and Lane Andrews.


    For a two-year term in Alderman II, incumbent Janice Tolar will oppose Matthew Kincaid. 

 

  • In the City of Alton, citizens will decide on two positions.
    Paul Haddock is running for a two-year mayoral term with no opposers.

    For an Alderman-at-large two-year position, no one has filed, but the write-in option remains. 

Continuing in Howell County:

  • Voters will decide to impose an additional county-wide sales tax of one-fourth of one percent for ten years from the date on which such tax is first imposed for the purpose of providing law enforcement services for the county. 

 

  • Citizens in Willow Springs will vote a two-year Alderman I term. Kimberly Rich will oppose Clifford Roberts and Michael Wang.

    Citizens will also decide on an Alderman Ward II two-year term. David Collins is the only one filed for the position. 

 

  • In Willow Springs School District, voters will select two board members for a three-year term. Tony Friga opposes Dean Aye, Jeff Lovan, Andy Roberts, and Jeffery Cunningham.

 

  • In the City of Brandsville, Citizens will decide on a two-year Alderman East Ward position. Betty Pirkle is the one running for the position.

    Citizens will also decide on an Alderman West Ward two-year term position. Ronnie Bunch is the only one filed for the position.

 

  • In the City of West Plains, for a four-year Council Person, Jessica Nease is opposing Ron Grennan, Mike Burgess, and Paul Bradshaw.

    For a three-year Council Person term, John Niesen will oppose Donald McClellan.

 

  • In the City of Mountain View, voters head to the ballot box to vote for a two-year mayoral term. John Krasuski will oppose Randy Reese. 

    For Alderman east-ward, two-year term, Judi Colter opposes Murray Anderson.

    For Alderman east-ward for a one-year unexpired term, Laura Wagner opposes Terry Gunter and Jeremy Phipps.


    For Alderman west-ward, a two-year term, Rick Thorton will oppose Lindell Vandevort.

  • In the Glenwood School District, for a one-year board member term, Brittany Smith will face Christopher Wake. 

 

  • For the Fairview School District, Kris Kerby will oppose Jeremy Prewett for a one-year board member term. 

 

  • In the Bakersfield School District, voters will decide on two board members for a three-year term between Kyle Clayton, Brad Maynard, and Darren Johnston.

TEXAS COUNTY:

  • Voters will decide if the County should impose a countywide sales tax of three/eight of one percent for the purpose of providing funding for law enforcement services in the county.

 

  • County residents will decide a Texas County Memorial Hospital Trustee. The race is between George Sholtz, Jim Perry, and Beverly Clark.

 

  • Residents in the Cabool School District will elect two new board members for a three-year term. Shaun Watson opposed Tony Hughes, Dennis Brown, Nadine Wallace, and Jacob Reese.

 

  • Resident in the Houston School District will elect two new board members for a three-year term. Jeff Gettys will oppose Jennifer Scheets and Andrew Wells.

 

  • In the Mountain Grove School District, voters will decide two positions. For a three-year board member term, Howard Hawkins opposes James Loveland.For a one-year board member term, Cheyanne Smith opposes Ryan Morris.

 

  • Residents in the Licking School District will elect two new board members for a three-year term. The race is between Heidi Moloney, Roy Kinder, John Huff, Ashli Todaro, Joseph Satterfield, and Jake Floyd.

 

  • In the Summersville School District, voters will elect two new board members for a three-year term. The race is between Emily Doosing, Max Racicot, Jason Greear, Jason Rutledge, and Ryan Hunt.

 

  • Residents in the Plato School District will elect two new board members for a three-year term. The race is between Robert Murray, Eric Crews, Jody Fry, and Don Rose.Plato School District patrons will also select a two-year board member. Stacy Fletcher is the sole candidate.

 

  • In the City of Mountain Grove, Citizens will see multiple items on the ballot. For Alderman Ward I – two-year position – Carolyn Mitchell is the sole candidate.Voters will decide if the City of Mountain Grove should allow and regulate farm animals on land consisting of five or more acres within the city limits of Mountain Grove.

    Voters will decide if the City of Mountain Grove should impose a local use tax at the same rate as the total local sales tax rate, which is currently three percent. Provided that if the local sales tax rate is reduced or raised by voter approval, the local use tax rate will also be reduced or raised by the same action.
    A use tax return should not be required to be filed by persons whose purchases from out-of-state vendors do not in total exceed two thousand dollars in any calendar year.

 

  • In the City of Licking, votes have two positions to vote on. For Alderman I – two-year term – Joe Dillard is the sole candidate.For Alderman II – two-year term – Mike Aiken apposes Linda Breedlove.

    Voters will decide if the City of Licking should impose a city sales tax of one-half one percent to provide revenues for the operation of its Police Department.

 

  • In the City of Houston, voters have four positions to decide on. For Alderman Ward I – two-year term – Dale Depler Jr. opposes Kevin Stilley.For Alderman Ward I – one year term – Sam Kelly is the sole candidate for that position.

    For Alderman Ward II – two-year term – Shelia Walker is the sole filer for that position.

    For Alderman Ward III – two-year term – Don Romines opposed Joe Honeycutt.

 

  • In the City of Cabool, voters have three positions to decide on. For a two-year Mayoral term, Lane Daniel opposes Shyanne Daniel, Danny Cannon, and Brenda Jarrett.For Alderman Ward I – two-year term – none have filed for that position, but the write-in option remains.

    For Alderman Ward II – two-year term – John Williams is the sole filer for that position.

 

  • In the Village of Plato for Village Trustee – two-year term – Justin Copley is the sole filer for that position.

SHANNON COUNTY:

  • Voters will decide if the Shannon County Commission should impose a local use tax at the same rate as the total local sales tax rate, currently at one and one half percent. Provided, if the tax rate is reduced or raised by voter approval, the local use tax rate shall also be reduced or raised by the same action.

 

  • In the Southern Reynold County School District, voters will elect two board members. Gary Copeland and Caleb McCoy are the only two filed for the position.

    Voters will decide on Proposition Whippets: Restore History and Plan for the Future. The Board of Education borrow six million dollars for the purpose of providing funds to restore the old gymnasium, replace heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems district-wide, update exterior lighting to LED, to repair or replace roofs, to pave parking lots, to complete drainage improvements, and other repairs or maintenance required of the district.

 

  • In the Oak Hill School District, voters will decide two new board members for a three-year term. The race is between James Reese, Rabecka Geistlinger, and Amanda Sapaugh.

 

  • In the Bunker School District, patrons will vote two new board members for a three-year term. Nancy Amaral, Gary Conway JR, and Todd Sutton have filed for the position.

 

  • In the City of Birch Tree, voters will vote for a two year term Mayoral position. Louis Colaiannia III is the sole filer for the position.

    For Alderman – two year term – vote for two, Jessy Gates and Merri Trotter are the sole filers for that position.

    For Alderman – one year term – Dale Smotherman is the sole candidate for that position.

    Citizens will decide if the City of Birch Tree should impose a local use tax at the same state as the total local sales tax that is currently at two percent. Provided that if the local sales tax rate is reduced or raised by voter approval, the local use tax rate will also be reduced or raised by the same action.

 

  • In the City of Winona, For Alderman Ward I – two year term – Lou Ann Honeycutt is opposing Patricia Tyson.

    For Alderman Ward I – one year term – Anthony Nichols is the sole filer for that position.

    For Alderman Ward II – two year term – Sherman Dailey is the sole filer for that position.

    For Alderman Ward III – two year term – Gentry Thomas is opposing Michael Phoenix.

 

  • In the City of Eminence, For Alderman North Ward – two year term – Logan Goldschmidt is the sole filer for that position.
