Identities released in West Plains shooting

On Tuesday, April 5, 2022, at approximately 10:53 PM, West Plains Officers responded to the 14-Junction Truck Stop, located at 3675 North Highway 63, with reference reports of a subject being shot at the location.

Upon arrival, officers located a thirty-four-year-old male with numerous, apparent gunshot wounds to his torso, legs, and other locations. Individuals at the scene reported that the subjects involved in the incident left the area in a red-colored Chevrolet Avalanche traveling southbound on Highway 63.

The victim was transported to Ozarks Healthcare where he was later pronounced deceased.

He was identified as 34-year-old James Vineyard of West Plains.

Deputies of the Howell County Sheriff’s Office recognized the suspect vehicle that resides in Howell County. Deputies located the vehicle and were able to take 22-year-old Damian Henry of West Plains into custody. Henry faces charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action. No bond has been set.

The subjects were transported to the West Plains Police Department where investigators interviewed the subjects. One of the subjects implicated them in the incident. The subjects were later transported to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office pending murder charges by the Howell County Prosecutor’s Office.
