
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office arrested two on drug charges.
According to a social media post, a Deputy made a traffic stop on Country Road 203 for failure to display current registration.
Upon making contact with the driver, identified to be 22-year-old Jonah Smith of Ava, MO, and passenger, 29-year-old Jose Guerra of Ava, the Deputy observed indicators that the occupants could possibly be under the influence of a controlled substance which led to a search of the vehicle.
After searching, a crystal substance was found that tested positive for methamphetamine was located, as well as used hypodermic needles, a sawed-off shotgun, and a handgun by the passenger’s feet.
Smith was currently on probation for possession of a controlled substance.
Both are charged with felony possession of methamphetamine, felony unlawful possession or transport of an illegal weapon, felony unlawful use of a weapon by possessing a controlled substance, and misdemeanor unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia,
Smith faces additional charges for misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility and misdemeanor failure to register a motor vehicle.
Both of their bonds were set at $25,000.
If either post bond, they will be CPS supervised with twice-weekly drug testing, no illegal substances including marijuana, no weapons, and must adhere to a 7 am to 7 pm curfew.
