Howell County authorities arrest man for fleeing, possession of methamphetamine

The Howell County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man for possession of an illegal firearm and drug paraphernalia. 

According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, on April 6, a deputy attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had crossed the center line. 

The suspect fled the officer on State Highway 17, and the chase continued into Texas County. 

The driver was observed throwing multiple items out of his vehicle while fleeing. 

With the help from multiple agencies, the vehicle was stopped after driving over spike strips that were deployed on Route 17, south of Summersville. 

The driver of the vehicle fled on foot into a nearby wooded area, and a passenger of the vehicle was detained. 

The driver of the vehicle was apprehended shortly after a K9 Deployment. 

Howell County K9 Otis was also deployed to the motor vehicle and alerted to the odor of narcotics. 

Following a search of the vehicle, a sawed-off shotgun and items of methamphetamine were located.

41-year-old Wesley Dailey was arrested on active arrest warrants out of Shannon County, he also faces charges for felony resisting, unlawful possession of an illegal weapon, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an array of driving offenses. 

He is being held in the Howell County Sheriff’s Office, awaiting the filing of additional charges.
