The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man on drug charges.
According to court documents filed on Tuesday, on March 14, authorities were dispatched to the area of Wilkes Lane near the Sharp and Izard County line to assist with a pursuit coming from Izard County.
The suspect pulled onto Wilkes Lane, which is a dead-end road. He then approached police, and the vehicle was stopped.
Officers ordered the suspect to get out of the car, but ultimately the officers had to physically remove 38-year-old Aaron Slayton from the vehicle.
Once out of the car, Slayton had his hands inside of his waistband and physically resisted the officers who were attempting to place him into custody.
Officers conducted a pat-down and located a large amount of cash in Slayton’s front left pocket.
Authorities then searched the vehicle Slayton was driving, when another large amount of cash was located, as well as a folded five-dollar bill concealing five suspect oxycodone pills, digital scales, numerous syringes, and a large number of small plastic baggies.
A drug task force agent also located a large bag containing nearly six ounces of suspected methamphetamine hanging in a bush near where Slayton first stopped on Wilkes Lane.
Slayton is charged with two felony counts for possession with a purpose to deliver methamphetamine, felony possession of drug paraphernalia, felony tampering with physical evidence, misdemeanor resisting arrest, and misdemeanor fleeing.
His bond was set at $150,000.
