A Bakersfield School board member was forced to resign one day after he was elected in April.

After election officials determined his residence was outside of the school district, Brad Maynard resigned from the position.

A School Official was contacted on election day by a Howell County election official saying that updated maps showed Maynard’s residence is within a few feet of the boundary, but was not inside the district.

When Maynard initially enrolled his children into the school, maps showed his newly built home to be in the school district, but the new maps determined his home was inside the West Plains R-VII School District, even though his driveway and the some of his property are located inside the Bakersfield School District.
