The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of a man on child molestation charges.
According to a release from the Sheriff’s Office, on April 22, 62-year-old Michael Mitchell of Checotah, OK, was arrested as he was being released from the Cox Hospital.
On April 12, authorities were dispatched to a residence in eastern Douglas County where a male subject was found inappropriately touching a child, and a fight ensued.
Upon arrival, Mitchell was being taken by ambulance for treatment of his injuries.
An investigation was conducted by the Sheriff’s Office and Children’s Division that resulted in a warrant being issued for Mitchell.
He is charged with first-degree child molestation.
His bond was set at $50,000.
Douglas County authorities say Mitchell was in the hospital at the time of the incident until being released to authorities on April 22.
