
The West Plains Police Department is investigating a hit and run that occurred on Thursday.
According to a release, on May 5, near 6 am, officers were dispatched for a hit-and-run traffic crash.
The caller advised a bicyclist had been struck by a red car on US Highway 63 near Elmore Drive.
When officers arrived on the scene, they found a 19-year-old male bicyclist lying in the grass near the shoulder of the roadway.
They also found the bicycle, which had been reportedly drug by the suspect’s vehicle, approximately 100 feet away.
The victim was later transported to an area hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying the parties involved with the crash.
The vehicle was described as a four-door passenger car, possibly a Pontiac Bonneville.
The vehicle should have reasonable damage to the front end from the crash.
