The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a woman on assault charges after threatening her grandparents and biting a deputy.

According to a release from the department, on Friday morning at 3:06, deputies responded to a 911 call on County Road 158 near Mountain Home for a report of a female who was threatening her grandparents with a knife.

Deputies arrived and found the suspect in the front yard holding her five-year-old child.

While one deputy spoke to the grandparents, the other deputy spoke to the suspect.

While the deputy was speaking to 29-year-old April Raymond of Mountain Home, she suddenly shoved the deputy in the chest.

He told the suspect to set the child down, but she refused.

The second deputy was able to take the child from the suspect, but the suspect kicked the child in the head. The kick did not seriously injure the child.

Raymond then began fighting with the officers and, at one point, bit a deputy hard enough to draw blood.

The suspect was tased, and deputies were able to put her in handcuffs.

She was then transported to the Baxter County Detention Center without further incident.

Raymond is charged with felony battery on a police officer, misdemeanor resisting arrest, misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a minor, and misdemeanor assasult on a family member.

She booked into the detention center and is being held on a $15,000 bond. She’ll be in court in later May.
