Man arrested after opening multiple bank accounts, depositing fraudulent checks

The Fulton County Sheriff’s Department arrested a man on theft charges for writing fraudulent checks. 

According to court documents filed on Friday, on April 22, 25-year-old Matthew Amrhein opened an account with FNBC in Mammoth Spring, AR. 

Within a few hours, Amrhein went to several FNBC locations and deposited several fraudulent checks. 

There are pictures from the banks of Amrhein depositing the checks. 

The total amount equaled $15,900. 

He faces charges for felony theft equaling more than $5,000 but less than $25,00.

His bond was set at $2,000.
