The Sharp County Sheriff’s Office arrested a woman on kidnapping charges.
Court documents filed on Tuesday show that on the afternoon of April 6, a deputy was dispatched to a residence on Canary Circle in Williford for reports of an attempted kidnapping.
When authorities arrived on the scene, they were met by two people saying 42-year-old Casey Lunsford had come into the yard and attempted to take their dogs.
They stated that when she could not get the dogs, Lundsford then grabbed a young juvenile male by the hand and started walking away with him.
The child’s mother watched it take place from inside the home, and she ran outside to stop Lunsford.
The mother shoved Lunsford, knocking her to the ground away from the child.
She then stated that Lunsford saw the additional child the mother was holding and demanded she gives the baby to her because it was her daughter.
The mother said she then pushed Lunsford away from her again, took both children, and ran inside to call the police.
Lunsford then left, walking back to her residence.
Then, when a deputy then arrived on the scene, they went to the front door of Lunsford and knocked.
Lunsford yelled to come inside, and when the deputy entered, she was sitting on her couch with the top half of her body exposed.
When asked to put clothing on, Lunsford refused.
After finally agreeing to clothe herself, authorities asked why she had been harassing her neighbors, and she responded in a slurred voice with several words that were not comprehendible.
Lunsford was then arrested and was taken to the Sharp County Detention Center.
She is charged with felony first-degree false imprisonment, misdemeanor disorderly conduct, and misdemeanor public intoxication for drinking in public.
Her bond was set at $15,000.
