ELECTION DAY: Arkansans head to ballot box for May Primary Election

In Statewide Elections:

  • Republican Governor – Sarah Huckabee Sanders opposes Doc Washburn
  • Democratic Governor – Chris Jones runs against Jay Martin, Anthony Bland, Supha Mays, and James Russell.
    If one candidate does not receive more than 50% of the vote, the top two in the primary will advance to a run-off election on June 21.
  • Republican US Senate – Incumbent Senator John Boozman opposes Jake Bequette, Heath Loftis, and Jan Morgan.
  • Democratic US Senate – Jack Foster runs against Natalie James and Dan Whitfield.
  • The winners of the two Primary US Senate races will face Libertarian Kenneth Cates and Independent Stuart Shirrell.
  • 1st District Republican US House – Incumbent Representative Rick Crawford is challenged by State Representative Brandt Smith and Jody Shackelford.
    The winner of this race will face Democratic Representative Monte Hodges and Independent Roger Daugherty in the November election.

In Statewide Judicial Elections:

Arkansans will vote on a state Supreme Court Seat.

  • For Position 2 – Incumbent Justice Robin Wynne opposes District Judge Chris Carnahan and Davis Sterling.
  • For the 3rd Judicial District Seat (Sharp, Lawrence, and Randolph Counites) – John Pettie opposes Devon Holder.

For the Arkansas State House:

  • In District 1 (Includes Randolph County) – Steve Dixon opposes Jeremy Wooldridge.
    The winner will face Democrat Teresa Roofe in November.
  • In District 2 (Includes Fulton, Sharp, and Randolph Counties) – Incumbent Representative Marsh Davis is challenged by Trey Steimel and Hazelle Whited.
    The winner is to face Libertarian Teresa Norman in November.
  • In District 3 (Includes Baxter and Fulton Counties) – Republican Stetson Painter opposes Republican Tom Bryant. The winner will face Libertarian Steve Gene Parsons in November.
  • In District 27 (Includes Izard, Sharp, and Baxter Counties) – Republican Jerry Logging runs against Timmy Reid, Steven Walker, and Alan Yarbrough. The winner will run unopposed in November.
  • In District 28 (Includes Stone, Sharp, Lawrence, and Independence Counties) – Republican Chris Beller opposes Republican Bart Schulz. The winner will be unopposed in November.

For the Arkansas State Senate:

  • In District 21 (Includes Lawrence and Randolph Counties) – Senator Blake Johnson and Curtis Hitt oppose each other for the seat. The winner will oppose Libertarian Alfred Hollan in November.
  • In District 22 (Includes Lawrence, Independence, Sharp, Fulton, and Izard Counties) – Senator James Sturch is challenged by Representative John Payton and Ethan J Barnes.

In Fulton County:

  • County Judge – Republican Kenneth Crowe opposes Republican David Curtis and Independent Todd Doty.
  • Sheriff – Republican John D. Cawvey opposes Republican Jacob (Jake) Smith and Independent Dallas Montgomery.
  • District 1 Justice of the Peace – Republican Matthew Stevens opposes Republican Cris Newberry.
  • District 2 Justice of the Peace – Independent Justin Luther is running against Republican Dennis W Kinder and Republican John Emery.
  • District 3  Justice of the Peace – Republican Albert “Al” Roork opposes Republican Joanna L Defoe.
  • District 8 Justice of the Peace – Republican Jackie Dean Privett opposes Jimmy Marler.
  • Position 2 Salem School Board – Phillip Taylor runs against Karen Harris Coffman.
  • Position 2 Viola School Board – Dustin Cotter opposes Derek Winter and Brandon T Love.

In Sharp County:

  • County Judge – Republican Steve Stauffer opposes Republican Mark Counts, Republican Malcom Thomas, and Independent Jeremy Langston.
  • Sheriff – Voters decide between Republican Shane Russell and Republican Jeremy Langston.
  • Treasurer – Republican Wanda Gritman opposes Republican Conway Spurlock.
  • Coroner – Republican Renee Clay-Circle is running against Independent Seth Wortham.
  • District 6 Justice of the Peace – voters decide between Republican Jackie Pickett and Republican Everett McGuire.
  • District 7 Justice of the Peace – Republican Buell Wilkes opposes Republican Joseph Ray Blackburn and Republican Everett McGuire.
  • District 3 Constable – Republican David L Gruger opposes Republican Justin Scheel.
  • District 4 Constable – Republican Phillip Pickett runs against Republican David Woods.
  • District 6 Constable – Republican Luke VanderVort opposes Independent Israel Hester.

In Izard County:

  • County Judge – Republican Eric Smith opposes Republican Paul Womack and Republican Thomas Ward.
  • County Circuit Clerk – Republican Joe Cooper runs against Republican Debra Brown.
  • Sheriff – Republican Charley Melton opposes Republican Mark Simino and Republican Steven Foran.
  • District 2 Justice of the Peace – Republican Walter Hagan opposes Republican Bobby Russell and Republican Kelly Hatman.
  • District 6 Justice of the Peace – Republican Justin Thornton is against Republican Ted Wammack.
  • Gid Constable – Independent Rusty Tate opposes Republican Ty Grimes.
  • New Hope Constable – Republican Brett Stevenson runs against Republican Eric Brantner.
  • Union Constable – Republican Mark A Stephen opposes Republican Geoffrey Watts.
  • Melbourne School District Ward 4 – Camron Jones opposes Kamille Roberts.

In Baxter County:

  • County Judge – Brian Plumlee opposes Kevin Litty, Eric Payne, and Shannon M Feliccia.
  • Sheriff – John L Pate runs against Henry Campfield and Incumbent Sheriff John Montgomery.
  • District 10 Justice of the Peace – Ernest Adkins opposes Shannon Walker, Sheila Wingard, and Vincent S Anderson.
  • District 11 Justice of the Peace – Tom Canta runs against Ty Chapman.
  • District 2 Constable – Patrick D Smith opposes Daniel K. Carley and Walter Frank Hottes.
  • District 8 Constable – Tyler Brown opposes Randy Sandland.
  • District 11 Constable – Frankie Baker runs against John Wood.
  • Mountain Home School Board of Education Position 2 – Arnold Knox opposes Bob Chester.
  • Mountain Home School Board of Education Position 4 – Barbara Horton runs against Carrie Ramsey.
  • Norfork School District Board of Education  Position 4 – Chad McGowan opposes Elayna Southard.

In Randolph County:

  • County Judge – Republican Ben Derrick opposes Independent Ben Wicker, Republican Randy Barber, Republican Greg Matthews, Independent Randy Barber, Republican Greg Matthews, Independent Larry Rogers, Independent Chad Burdin, Republican Paul Carr, and Republican James (Jamie) DeJournett.
  • Sheriff – Republican Jim Milam opposes Democratic Jason Bradley Cummins and Republican Incumbent Sheriff Kevin B Bell.
  • County Treasurer – Democrat Sherry Huskey opposes Republican Dennis L. Calaway.
  • County Assessor – Democrat Stacy Meridith Ingram runs against Republican Krissy J Massey.
  • District 7 Justice of the Peace – Democrat Jim Steimle opposes Republican Eric Bass.
  • District 9 Justice of the Peace –  Republican Micahel Cook runs against Independent Christ Tyler and Republican David Statler.
