A joint operation between the Arkansas State Police, Mammoth Spring Police Department, and Thayer Police Department led to the arrest of two individuals on multiple child porn and rape charges.
According to documents obtained by ECNN, on May 22 at 5:30 pm, a special agent with the Arkansas State Police was contacted by Mammoth Spring Police Chief Jamie Turnbough regarding a woman who had pictures on her cell phone showing her boyfriend fondling their one-year-old daughter.
On May 23, the woman came to the Police Department and gave a written statement to Chief Turnbough.
In the statement, she said she had gone through her now ex-boyfriend’s phone and found the images.
The phone was then given to Chief Turnbough, who looked at the images and determined them to be Child Sexual Abuse Material.
After viewing the content, he then contacted the special agent and made a report to the Arkansas State Police Child Abuse Hotline.
On May 24, Chief Turnbough then sought and obtained a search warrant for the phone given to him by the woman and all electronic devices located at the residence of 30-year-old Kevin McGath on Bamber Street in Mammoth Spring.
Then, on the same day, the special agent was able to view 18 different images on the cell phone and verified that 17 were considered CSAM.
Based on the evidence in the photos, they were taken on at least six different occasions.
Thirteen of the photos were focused on the juvenile’s lower private region.
A search warrant was then executed at the residence of McGath and seized one Ideapad 3 laptop, one Seagate 2 terabit hard drive, one LG M150 cell phone, and one Motor G Stylus cell phone.
In an interview with McGath, he stated he was only trying to document diaper rash on his daughter.
The affidavit states that there appears to be diaper rash on the juvenile in only one of the photos.
Authorities were unable to run law enforcement software on the devices, but later gained access to the hard drives.
After searching the devices, 36 explicit images were found on his cell phone, but a total of 51 were found in total.
Chief Turnbough contacted the Thayer Police Department on May 25 seeking assistance in finding McGath, who may have been within the city limits of Thayer.
Chief Turnbough then directed officers to a residence on Sunset Street in Thayer, and McGath was taken into custody without incident.
The woman who filed the report initially will face charges, as well as McGath.
29-year-old Angel Fuller (not pictured) and McGath are charged with 50 felony counts of manufacturing, possessing, or viewing of matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child and ten felony counts of rape.
Both of their bonds were set at $500,000.
