
The Thayer Police Department reports the arrest of a man for damaging a local church.
According to Assistant Police Chief Luke Martin, on May 28, the Thayer Police Department received a call from Webber Road.
The caller informed dispatch that they had a male subject breaking windows at the Midway Pentecostal Church.
Due to the church being outside the jurisdiction of the Police Department, the Oregon Couty Sheriff’s Office was notified, and they asked for an agency assist to secure the scene until they could respond.
An officer with the Thayer Police Department arrived on the scene and took a male subject into custody that appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.
After a Sheriff’s Deputy arrived on the scene, the suspect was turned over to the department.
During that time, the Police Department received another call stating a suspect was breaking windows at his residence on Webber Road, which was inside city limits.
Thayer PD arrested 43-year-old Micah Grimes of Thayer. He was transported to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains and was placed on a 96-hour hold.
Formal charges for Grimes at this time are pending.
