The Howell County Sheriff’s Department reports the arrest of a man for trafficking drugs and stealing a motor vehicle. Last week The Sheriff’s office received a report from a subject saying they were following a vehicle recently reported stolen. A deputy responded and was able to locate the vehicle matching the description and also observed the vehicle to fail in displaying registration plates. A traffic stop was then initiated and during the traffic stop the vehicle identification number was run and returned as a stolen vehicle. Michael L. Roberts was then taken into custody. A search of the vehicle produced a backpack containing approximately fifty grams of suspected methamphetamine, digital scales, and used syringes. Mr. Roberts was transported to the Howell County Sheriff’s Office Adult Detention Center and held on a $25,000 bond. He is charged with Stealing Motor Vehicle, Trafficking Drugs 2nd Degree, and Tampering with a Motor Vehicle 1st Degree
