A West Plains man suffered serious injuries in an accident east of Bakersfield Friday morning. 19-year-old Mitchell Barton was injured when he failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the road, hit several trees, and overturned the vehicle he was driving. Barton was taken to Baxter Regional Medical Center. The accident happened on Highway 142 about three miles east of Bakersfield.
