
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department is reporting an Officer-involved shooting that happened Saturday. The Sheriff’s Office says they received a tip on the location of Marvin Burkes, who was wanted on a Howell County warrant for child molestation. Burkes had been allegedly hiding in the woods for the past six months. When deputies arrived, Burkes ran, then stopped and pointed a pistol at the deputies, and then fired at them. The deputies returned fire, hitting Burkes numerous times. The Sheriff said Burke has a criminal record dating back 35 years and was most recently arrested for child molestation. The deputy who shot and killed Burke is on administrative leave as the Webster County Sheriff’s Office Investigates the incident.
