A man from Pocahontas was killed and a Smithville Arkansas woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident Thursday evening in Independence County. The Arkansas State Police report that 41-year-old Matthew Giles Jansen was killed and 31-year-old Ronette Lindsey Rush was injured when Jansen stopped the motorcycle he was riding at a stop light and was hit from behind by a car driven by Rush. The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 167 and Lawrence Street in Batesville.
