The Independence County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man for stabbing to death his girlfriend. 26-year-old Eli Benjamin Horace Ray allegedly fatally stabbed 29-year-old Kayla Lee at a home in Cushman on early Tuesday morning. According to the probable cause affidavit, Ray called the police and said he had killed his girlfriend and he would be waiting for law enforcement. Deputies found Ray lying on the ground with his hands behind his back covered in blood. Ray told authorities that Lee tried to take their son and his vehicle. During an argument, Ray told authorities that he grabbed a pocket knife and told the kids to go outside, then things escalated. Ray told then he snapped and killed her. The case has been turned over to the prosecuting attorney’s office for formal charges. Ray is being held without bond.
