Tuesday night the Mayor appointed Eric Cheatham to the position. Cheatham takes over the position after former Chief of Police Glen Smith retired on September 12th, after an investigation into the sale of a city-owned gun. Cheatham has worked as a sheriff’s investigator in Lawrence County and an investigator in Hoxie since 2008.
