The Arkansas 1A State Golf Tournament was held Tuesday at Mountain Ranch Golf Club in Fairfield Bay and the Viola Longhorns girls team was crowned the 1A State champion shooting 296 beating the runner-up by 38 strokes. Mammoth Spring finished 4th shooting 351.
Viola’s A.J. McCandlis was the state champion golfer shooting a 81 to take first. Kailey Hallmark of Viola finished 4th, and Viola’s Stevie Waltrip finished 8th. Mammoth Spring’s Adrianna Corbett finished 9th overall.
In the 3A State Tournament at Turkey Mountain Horseshoe Bend, the Salem lady Greyhounds finished 4th and the Melbourne Lady Bearkatz finished second behind State Champion Charleston Valley Springs.
Salem’s Katie Fish tied for 5th and Melbourne’s Annie Rush tied for 9th.
