Two recently deceased Mountain Home residents have left a donation to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office K-9 unit. Cynthia and Lester Bergen left the money through the Mark Bergen Memorial Endowment which will give the Sheriff’s office an annual check to help cover the cost of training and maintaining the police dogs. The couple started the Endowment in their son’s name who was killed in California in 2004. A K-9 help solve the murder. Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says now that funding is there, several steps need to be taken, hopeful to outfit deputies with K9 companions within the next few years.
