A man from Little Rock was arrested in Independence County after authorities went to a residence in Floral regarding a wanted subject. 47-year-old Cory Joe Stingley was not the subject they were looking for but he was arrested when deputies found he had warrants for his arrest. Stingley then escaped from the patrol car through a window when deputies went back to look for the original suspect and Stingley was later found hiding in a pond. Stingley is charged with one felony count of possession of a firearm by a certain person, one felony count of third-degree escape, and one felony count of theft by receiving. He is also being charged as a habitual offender. His bond is set at $20,000.
