Two people have been arrested on drugs and weapons charges after the Arkansas State Police made a traffic stop in Independence County. 46-year-old James Simmons and 39-year-old Jennifer Johns both from Batesville were arrested on outstanding warrants. Permission was granted to Troopers to search the vehicle and they found two baggies of a white crystalline substance that tested positive at meth. A loaded firearm was also found close to the meth.  Both Simmons and Johns are charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and felony simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms. Both are being held in Independence County Jail with bond set at $15,000 each.
