WEST PLAINS, MO – Ozarks Healthcare’s Behavioral Health Center (BHC) will host an art show focusing on the theme, “Pieces of Me” in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month in May. Entries are now being accepted by artists of all ages.

According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), one in 20 adults in the U.S. experiences a serious mental illness each year, and one in six youth between ages six and 17 years old experiences a mental health condition each year. Mental Health Awareness Month advocates for resources, support, and access to quality care.

The art show will feature three divisions: eighth grade and under, high school, and adult. Prizes for each division will include the following:

  • Eighth grade and under: first place – $50, second place – $25, third place – $10
  • High school: first place – $100, second place – $75, third place – $50
  • Adults: first place – $150, second place – $100, third place – $75
  • One overall best-of-show winner will be awarded $200.

All projects must be submitted to Ozarks Healthcare’s BHC in West Plains by May 5. The art show will run May 22 – 31 at the West Plains Civic Center. A “meet the artist” event will also be held May 26 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the West Plains Civic Center. More information about the show will be shared at a later date.
