
The Highway Patrol reports that 73-year-old Geraldine Radar was injured when her pickup skidded on an icy road, traveled off the road, and hit a road sign and a low water bridge. An additional report from the Shannon County First Responders has the vehicle landed in the creek and Radar had to be extricated through the roof of the vehicle by the Eminence Area Volunteer Fire Department, assisted by Shannon County Sherriff’s Deputies, Shannon County First Responders, and a number of local people who stopped to help. The patient was carried out through the creek and up an icy embankment in a basket litter and was treated on the road by First Responders while awaiting the ambulance. Several local people volunteered to provide blankets. The patient was transported by Mercy ambulance to the Eminence Fire Station where she was transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield. The accident happened on county road 504, three miles south of Eminence.
