
Sunday morning a little after 7 am the Howell County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a vehicle stopped in the roadway on County Road 5130. According to the Reporting Party, a male subject was slumped over the steering wheel of the vehicle. Deputies responded to the location where they made contact with the driver. It was found the driver had a suspended Missouri Driver’s Licensed. The driver was placed under arrest for Driving While Suspended. During the course of the investigation Deputies located what is believed to be a homemade explosive device in the vehicle. Upon locating the device, Deputies contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad in Jefferson City for assistance. Deputies remained on the scene awaiting the arrival of the Bomb Squad. At approximately 1200 hours Missouri State Highway Bomb Squad arrived on the scene. Upon their arrival, Bomb Squad personnel confirmed the device was an active explosive device. The device was assessed, moved to a safe location, and rendered safe. A suspect is in custody and being held at the Howell County Adult Detention Center. The investigation into the matter is still ongoing at this time.
