The Missouri Water Patrol reports that 59-year-old Steven Kessler jumped off the boat that was adrift in a cove. According to reports, he surfaced and yelled for help, saying he could not breathe, witnesses who were swimming and on the vessel threw him a lifejacket and tried to assist him to land but were unable to keep him above water. CPR was conducted but was unsuccessful. The drowning happened about 20 yards from shore at Lightfoot Resort.
