Sunday evening between the hours of 10 pm and 6 am Monday morning, the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City was vandalized. The unidentified subject spray painted satanic symbols on the building and a van including a smiling face with devil horns winking, an upside-down cross on multiple doors, BEAST on the driver’s side of the van, and 666 on an exterior wall. Sheriff Shane Russell stated in a press release that this type of criminal act will not be tolerated in Sharp County. He said Sharp County will uphold the 1st Amendment Constitutional rights of the freedom of religion, and that they will have zero tolerance for any church being vandalized.
