37-year-old Lucas Henson was sentenced to twelve and a half years in prison and ordered to pay $7,200 for the cost of fighting the fire. In October of 2022, Henson allegedly stole a truck and burglarized a home, and was involved in a chase by police. Henson wrecked the truck in the Mark Twain National Forest and then set a fire to burn the items he stole. While running from authorities he started a second fire. He later pointed a crossbow at a Forest Service Officer. He was finally caught near the Black River. More than seven and a half acres of forest were burned.
