
Early Sunday morning Howell County Sheriff’s Deputies made contact with a suspicious vehicle while searching for a wanted suspect. Upon further investigation, they made contact with the occupants of the vehicle when they discovered that the passenger of the vehicle had active warrants for his arrest. As they were confirming the warrants, they observed an object being thrown from the vehicle. During the course of the investigation, the Deputies located the item that was thrown from the vehicle and a second device that was determined to be an Improvised Explosive Device. Upon discovering the devices, the Deputies on the scene contacted the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad located in Jefferson City. The Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb squad arrived on the scene at approximately 5 am,. Once on scene, the Bomb Squad confirmed the devices were active explosive devices, and once moved to a safe location they were rendered safe. The suspects were placed into custody and during a search of their persons; a controlled substance was located. The investigation is still ongoing at this time. No names have been released.
