
Saturday morning deputies were dispatched to the intersection of county road 6420 and Highway AD for a report of a running vehicle parked at the intersection. When deputies arrived they found Dakota Simmons asleep behind the wheel. Simmons was arrested after they determined he was under the influence. While arresting Simmons he resisted and attempted to flee, a taser was deployed and he was taken into custody. During a search of his vehicle, a glass smoking device containing suspected methamphetamine, and a loaded .22 caliber revolver were seized from the vehicle. Simmons was transported to the Howell County Adult Detention Center where formal charges of DWI, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon, and felony resisting arrest are being pursued.
