Art Hains, the “Voice of the Bears,” said he will return to the airwaves this season for Missouri State and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Hains missed most of the last MSU athletics and Chiefs season after he was diagnosed with West Nile and hospitalized in mid-September. After months between hospital stays in Kansas City and Lincoln, Nebraska, Hains has continued rehab in a Springfield rehabilitation center.
Hains shared at last week’s Missouri State athletics fundraiser that he plans on being behind the microphone for Bears football and men’s basketball home games and will do so in person this season. He will also resume his duties as the Kansas City Chiefs radio gameday studio host starting with Sunday’s noon preseason game against the New Orleans Saints and will do so remotely from his room at his Springfield rehabilitation center location.
