The Thayer City Council met last night for the regular monthly meeting. The Council first approved the consent agenda, then agreed to approve the bills and pay the bills. Then the Council heard from Rachel Johnson who had several questions concerning the city’s purchase of land at the intersection of Highway 63 and 19 in Thayer, and the grant the city had talked about at the last meeting.  She asked if the grant was awarded on September 29th, which the council told her it was not, but they are confident that it will be soon.  She also questioned the loan to buy the land and mentioned that it seemed like the city was trying to keep the purchase secret. The council told her the loan was at Southern Bank and that the purchase was public knowledge and anyone could find out about it by requesting minutes from the meeting and by coming to the City Council meetings, which are open to the public. After about a 15-minute discussion the council heard from Chamber president Scott Cecil who talked about the incubator project.

He talked about the feasibility study for the incubator

He then talked about the cost

The City council also discussed purchasing fire hydrants and agreed to purchase smart flow pumps for the Wastewater treatment plant. The City Council meets on the second Tuesday of each month at City Hall and the public is welcome to attend.
