On Sunday, at approximately 2:55 p.m., Izard County Dispatch received a call about a 1-year-old child being struck by a vehicle in the 3900 block of Lunenburg Road outside of Melbourne. Deputies as well as Melbourne first responders, Vital Link, and Survival Flight responded to the scene. Life-saving efforts were performed to no avail.
No foul play is suspected and at this time the incident is being investigated as an accident.
No names will be released at this time.
