Arkansas, Missouri & Missouri State players receive weekly awards

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas junior defensive end Landon Jackson has been tabbed the Southeastern Conference’s Defensive Lineman of the Week following his standout performance at No. 11 Alabama on Oct. 14.

The Texarkana, Texas, product had a career day against the Crimson Tide Saturday, setting career highs in tackles (11), tackles for loss (3.5-24 yards) and sacks (3.5-24 yards). It was his first career game with 10+ tackles. He’s the only SEC player with at least 3.5 sacks in a single game this season.

Jackson’s 3.5 sacks are the most by an Arkansas defender since Trey Flowers had 3.5 vs. Auburn in 2012. His 3.5 sacks are the most by a Razorback against Alabama since Antwain Robinson finished with 2.5 sacks vs. the Crimson Tide in 2006.

 

 

COLUMBIA, Mo. – University of Missouri defensive end Darius Robinson was named Southeastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Robinson was also tabbed by the Reese’s Senior Bowl as its co-defensive player of the week. He led the Tigers defense in a road win over No. 23 Kentucky on Saturday. The senior captain totaled six tackles, 2.5 tackles for a loss and a career high 2.0 sacks. It was the first multiple sack game of his career. The Tigers’ defense held UK to seven points and 149 yards of total offense after trailing 14-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The No. 20 Tigers return home to face the South Carolina Gamecocks in Mizzou’s 112th Homecoming game on Sat., Oct. 21. Kickoff at Memorial Stadium/Faurot Field is set for 2:30 p.m. CT and the game will air on SEC Network and Tiger Radio Network. The two teams play for the Mayor’s Cup.

 

 

  1. LOUIS — Missouri State kicker Owen Bozanc (Sr., Sheffield Lake, Ohio) has been named Missouri Valley Football Conference Newcomer of the Week, the league announced Monday.

    Missouri State’s place kicker accounted for 12 points with a pair of field goals and six extra points to help the Bears rout Western Illinois, 48-7, on Saturday and secure their first road victory of the campaign.

    Rozanc’s efforts helped the Bears put points on the board in each of their first seven possessions in Macomb, including first-half field goals of 31 and 21 yards. The Bowling Green transfer’s performance extended his personal success streak to five straight made field goals on the season and 37 straight extra points converted in his caree.

He ranks No. 31 on the NCAA’s active field goals list (41) among all active college players (all levels) and currently ranks 18th nationally in the FCS ranks in field goals per game (1.33) and 24th in scoring per game (7.8).
