On October 12, 2023, Jeremiah Evans age 40 of Ava was arrested on a Douglas County warrant for Kidnapping 1st degree, Domestic Assault 2nd degree 2 counts, Domestic Assault 1st degree 4 counts, and Armed Criminal action 3 counts. The case was investigated by Deputy Aaron Box.
Bond was set at $50,000 cash only not to possess firearms, knives or any weapon and if bonded must have an alcohol monitor and GPS monitor.
On October 13th, 2023; Detective Nathan Long attempted to arrest Michael Petro age 37 of Rogersville, on two existing Douglas County warrants. Mr. Petro fled on foot from the residence. Multiple deputies and Ava Police Department were dispatched to the Goodhope area to assist Detective Long. Deputy Aaron Box and K-9 York arrived on scene and began a location track and located Mr. Petro in some brush utilizing a proximity alert after approximately a ¼ mile track. Mr. Petro was arrested without further issue. Sheriff Degase wishes to thank Ava Police Department for their assistance.
Further charges are pending on Mr. Petro. He was arrested on the following warrants that were active at time of arrest.

Roger Gregory age 57 of West Plains was arrested on a October 16, 2023 on a Douglas County Grand Jury Indictment.
Gregory was originally arrested on April 26, 2021 by Cpl. Nelson and Ava PD Lt. Butterworth near the Dollar General, when Cpl. Nelson conducted a traffic stop and Gregory was found in Possession of Methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. ON June 13, 2023 a Grand Jury Indictment was issued with a bond of $15,000 cash only.
