The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department reports the arrest of two people on felony charges last week

On Monday, October 23, Sheriff Degase, Douglas County Deputies, and Deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office arrested 28-year-old Howard Applegate, and 29-year-old Kelsey Regennitter for a variety of charges after a man was found beaten in Christian County and rendered in a coma. Christian County investigator contacted Sheriff Degase regarding the assault and the possibility that it occurred in Douglas County. Investigators advised there was possibly another victim of the assault as well. Investigators met with Sheriff Degase and Douglas County deputies at a residence off CR 537 in the Goodhope area. Evidence was found relating to the assault. A search warrant was served on the property where evidence of the assault was found as well as numerous items of stolen property. The identity of the second victim was also discovered as a result of the investigation.  Regennitter was arrested and charged with Stealing $750 or More (Class D Felony) and the bond was set at $1500 cash only. Regennitter has since posted a bond. A warrant was issued for Howard Applegate Assault 1st Degree or Attempt-Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim x 2 Counts (Class A Felony) Burglary 1st Degree (Class B Felony), Tampering with Physical Evidence in Felony Prosecution (Class E Felony), Stealing $750 or more (Class D Felony) Bond is set at $50,000-00 cash. Applegate has also received a Probation and Parole Warrant-No bond
