The Douglas County Sheriff’s office reports three arrest.

Dalton Hall was arrested on charges of  Burglary 2nd Degree, Stealing, and Property Damage for Burglaries committed in Eastern Douglas County on August 3, 2023. The bond was set at $15,000 cash. The next day a warrant was also issued for Hall for Possession of a Controlled Substance- methamphetamine, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, and stealing in connection to a stealing offense that occurred on August 27, 2023, in eastern Douglas County. Bond was set at $15,000 cash, and the following day a warrant was issued for Hall for Burglary 2nd degree, 4 counts of stealing of a catalytic converter, Property Damage, and Stealing which occurred on August 21, 2023. The bond was set at $15,000 cash. Another warrant was issued that day for  Possession of a Controlled substance Unlawful use of drug paraphernalia and Stealing about a stealing case on August 21, 2023. . The bond was set at $15,000 cash.

On October 30, 2023; the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant on a residence east of Ava and arrested Billy Higginbotham, age 46 of Ava, on a Wright County warrant. During a search of the residence, deputies located:

-A bag of methamphetamine, -Digital scales, a used syringe next to a baggie of crystalline substance that tested positive for methamphetamine

-As well as two ‘pop’ cans located next to the trash can that were caked in a crystalline residue that also tested positive for methamphetamine. Higginbotham was transported back to the Douglas County Jail and booked in on the Wright County felony warrant. Later in the day on the 30th; the Douglas County Circuit Court issued a warrant for Higginbotham. Charges on charges of Possession of a Controlled Substance (Class D Felony) and unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia Prior to Drug Offense (Class A Misdemeanor) Bond is set at $1500-00 cash.

He also has a Wright County warrant with a bond set at $250 cash.

 

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of 20-year-old Christian Kizzire, of Ava. Kizzire had moved into Douglas County a month prior and was a registered sex offender out of Alabama. Kizzire should have notified Douglas County that he was in the county and failed to do so within the three-day limit that all sex offenders moving into our county are required to do.  A Grand Jury Indicted him for felony Failure to Register as a Sex Offender.

Kizzire was arrested and taken to the Douglas County Jail and remains in custody. The bond is set at $1500-00 cash.
