The Highway Patrol has now released details about a fatal accident north of Brandsville on Wednesday. According to their report, 32-year-old Katherine Welch of Thayer was killed when her vehicle crossed the center of the road and struck a vehicle driven by 46-year-old Matthew Kirby of Saffel Arkansas, who then traveled off the road, then the vehicle that Welch was driving hit a tractor-trailer head-on. The tractor-trailer was an empty cattle hauler which traveled off the road. The accident happened around 4:45 Wednesday afternoon on Highway 63, two miles north of Brandsville.
