A police chase Thursday in Lawrence and Sharp Counties ended after authorities deployed spike strips. The chase began around 4 Thursday morning on Highway 63 in law4rence County when a vehicle reported stolen in Randolph County fled from police, the case continued to Highway 117 toward Smithville reaching speeds of 80 to 85 miles per hour, then the vehicle turned on Highway 167 toward Evening Shade. Spike Strips were deployed and were successful in stopping the vehicle after pit maneuvers were unsuccessful. A suspect was taken into custody and he told authorities he was sick after swallowing a large amount of meth. Authorities stopped at the hospital to have him checked but he refused medical treatment. At this time no names have been released.
